This is everything she has in the world. She will have lost her shoes on her journey from her home in Mosul to this camp - where she will not get a tent or anything more than some water and a sparse meal - there is no room for her or the 500 odd other families recently arrived and waiting to know their immediate fate. The camp is full and has been for weeks. The aim is to get those for whom there is no space out of the transit area, ideally to other camps within 48 hours. That's 48 hours of what she's doing now, in the hot sun during the day and the freezing cold at night. This is the miserable reality of war. At least she is still alive.
