Check out the difference between the sea floor in this picture and the sea floor in the last picture! Here the effect of Bottle Reefs can clearly be seen. Most of the coral you can see on this particular section is soft coral. But that little pink bit, right in the top of the bottle in the middle is very special - it's a "self-seeded" hard coral! This Bottle Reef has been down for around 2 years, at some stage over that time, a coral polyp has happened upon it and successfully attached to the top of the bottle, then divided and grown. this is happening all over TRACC's Bottle Reefs. They really work!
