Once all the paper, cardboard and plastic has been removed from the cured concrete, the Turtle Reef will be full of tunnels and holes and ready to go into the sea.
The square holes in this Turtle Reef are made with the same take-away containers that are used to make Coral Biscuits (chunks of concrete with hard coral embedded in them). This means they can act as a socket for established coral biscuits to be pushed into, creating instant coral cover for a new piece of reef.
Turtle Reefs have a lot of potential because they can be designed to provide shelter and a growing substrate for specific species. If you wanted to give extra support to a specific type of crab for instance, you could research its ideal habitat - what it eats, where it hangs out, what eats it - and design your Turtle Reef to support the growth of its food and provide it with the right sort of shelter to protect it from its predators.
